WOOD GEAR CLOCK GALLERY

Arches - WGC-3

Classic simplicity of sleek, soft lines grace this exquisite piece with its Romanesque arches soaring in stature, and with its circumfluous perimeters of the bold timepiece and subtle pendulum.  The continual points of symmetry within the circular dial, pay homage to the circumference of DaVinci’s Vitruvian Man, and are reminiscent of the ideal.  Arches’ linear beauty of exposed function with traditional organic materials, the very principles of Art Nouveau, makes use of congruity of proportion to emphasize harmony, balance and unity of function.

  • Large weights drive the clock invisibly from inside the solid cherry columns.
  • Quarter sawn cherry is used throughout the working parts of the movement for maximum stability and strength. The construction of the gears is very similar to those of John Harrison’s wooden gear clocks made in the mid 1700’s, which are still running today.
  • Every inch of the frame is made of solid cherry finished in warm traditional tones, with white pickling stain for the dial and pendulum, and an ebony finish on the hands.
  • A large cherry key is provided for winding every three days. The need for winding is indicated by a small wooden flag.

Arches is a limited edition piece of 100 and each is signed and numbered by the artist.
